In cellars, storage rooms, and many closets around the world, thousands of hours of amateur and non-amateur footage are preserved today, in varying states of preservation, often unknown even to the owner.
Geographical, geopolitical, and economic limitations are often the reason why the contents of these archives are not brought to light and valued for what they can represent.
The BIAN is proposed as a new tool designed to allow the inspection and repair of films in various formats at the storage site thanks to its native innovative portable nature.
The BIAN is a simple and modular tool. It looks like a weeled suitcase and inside it hides all the parts and tools necessary to proceed with the tactile and visual inspection, both of the physical condition and the contents of the films under evaluation.
It comes equipped with an illuminating surface for viewing the contents. It can be equipped with a reflective lighting system with a magnifying lens for a more accurate visual analysis of the state of preservation.
The basic version of the BIAN features two removable spoked handwheels with a foldable handle for maximum simplification of purely manual movement control, in both directions and lateral movement, of the film whether on a core or reel or without either.
The extended version of the BIAN integrates manual control with electronic control of a set of motors with adjustable assistance for winding/unwinding movement.
The BIAN can be powered by the mains but also by battery for greater independence in use in the absence of a power supply network.
Thanks to the BIAN, it will be possible to rediscover memories and contents otherwise destined to be forgotten.
