D-Observer Digital Table  (Cat. CINE3)

D-Observer has been specifically designed for film laboratories, film archives and in general film companies which need to check the total quality of the film in all its parts.

The standard model perfectly runs for film 35mm and 16mm (also special format: Cinemascope, Super 16 and 35mm3P), positive and negative film. D-Observer can be easily upgraded to handle archive film like 28mm, 9,5 Pathé, 8mm and Super 8, maintaining for these formats the same performances.

Its adjustable-pitch sprocket, safeguards any standard and short pitched perforations, up to the most retired ones from the archive.

In any case the film is always automatically pre-tensioned before starting and its integrated technology protects the film from any tension damage.

A checking-speed selector grants three adjustable constant speeds for each direction.

The standard setting (12FPS-24FPS-150FPS) can be easily changed by the operator directly from the setting menu on the keyboard.

An easy and ergonomic control knob enables the operator to run the film in either direction with variable speed from 0 up to 200 FPS maintaining always the same tension during all the operations.

The CPU controlled transport allows the operator to choose the right and preset film transport behaviour with a button pression only: smooth and progressive for negative film, prompt and fast for positive (8 different pre-set modes are available).

The digital counter measures in real time the film length in feet, frames, meters, fps and elapsed time at 24 or 25 fps and the operator can locate a certain frame simply digiting its foot and frame references on the keyboard.

The large inspection area and the incorporated viewer allow an easy film handling and comfortable space for all needed instruments.

A wide choice of accessories increases the use of this very versatile equipment (see “D-Observer Accessories”).

D-Observer FSC Version (Cat. CINE 7)

The versatile moviola for film inspection with digital performances for any cine post-production necessity

  • All the features of the D-Observer Digital Table (Cat. CINE3) are included in this special version, additionally equipped with a video strobo system for increasing its performances and in order to use it like a moviola for both positive and negative film.

  • The video strobo system allows the operator to see the image stable and without flickering at any speed, to enlarge details in real time during projection and to freeze them into the monitor screen.

  • The development and accuracy of analogue and digital sound tracks, the steadiness of the printed image, the quality of the scene area and the perforations integrity, can be easily and accurately checked.

All film area is displayed on the monitor screen with possibility to zoom and crop details such as digital and analogue tracks.

The analog optical reader 16/35mm reproduces the sound track in perfect synchronization with the image.

While running a negative film, it is possible to easily invert the image into positive on the monitor and also, optionally, to adjust the RGB colours to enhance useful details during the quality inspection and film restoration.

Example of negative (on the left) inverted (on the right) with a special colour enhancement in order to see any "pressure mark" present on high sensitive film.

FSC shows each of the 25 fps of the running film either from the colour CCD or from the SF Optical Unit (Cat. PH116-C). Furthermore, with the optional SF Optical Unit (Cat. PH116-C) scratches of any size, snow dots and any kind of fault small blemishes (acetic syndrome included) are immediately enhanced to be easily detected and restored on both positive and negative film. The infrared light illuminates the selected frame eliminating the printed latent image for a more accurate inspection and an easier restoration.

Examples of scratch and acetic syndrome as normally appear on the monitor screen (image on the left) and after the infrared vision enhancement (image on the right).

The video output can be recorded, with proper optional devices, into DVD or VHS (pal resolution) supports, in colour or B/W, from positive or negative film.

The well made solid mechanic and electronic construction of the D-Observer Digital Table does not require any periodic maintenance and consumables.

A wide choice of accessories increases the use of this very versatile equipment.

D-Observer FSC HDT Version (CINE8)

LED pulsed light and high resolution 3CCD camera ensures a bright image ideal for a complete “edge to edge” film quality inspection at any running speed.

  •  The RGB high definition output is displayed on a high definition 19” monitor with the analogue sound 16/35 synchronized .

  •  The Camera can be easily adapted for Positive as well Negative films. Brightness, Saturation, RGB colours can be enhanced to better identify possibile faults during the quality inspection and film restoration as well for a primary copy on VHS.

  •  Running film frames are simultaneously replayed on the monitor either from the color 3CCD and by the optional infrared camera to identify scratches of any size, snow dots and any kind of fault small blemishes (vinegar syndrome included).

  •  The accuracy of analog and digital sound tracks processing, the steadiness of the printed image, the quality of the scene area as well the perforations integrity, can be easily and accurately checked.

  •  The stroboscope and the cameras are easly settable for any film format and a zoom function permits to enlarge any film detail for a better faults identification.

  •  RGB and video composite outputs are available for Beta primarily copy or VHS technical report.
